Yesterday was really one of my happiest and most emotional day of my life... but shall talk about the past few days first.
FRIDAY
nth much, cause apparently I have a goldfish memory.
We had to attend courses on oral presentation which dragged like siao.
Rushed to bandroom like siao, fixed up my instrument in record time, ran up to hall, waited a the side for Mrs Chua to call me in, sat down for 2 mins without playing anything and Mrs Chua left. I was like =.=....
And it did not help things much when I'm sweating abit, the halls' so stuffy and humid and my instrument kinda went on strike. It refused to play high G. I. was. CRANKY. VEYRVERYVERY cranky.
An alumni helped us and while pointing out our mistakes, he kept finding chances to promote tickets to VJC alumni band... quite hilarious. Sectionals....
Saturday
Band in the morning. Practised quite abit and the sec4s came back. My instrument finally stopped going on strike and I can play the high G. But still, I sounded super out of tune. I seriously missed the bass clarinet I played in PCSMB. I was the first person to play it and tada! it sounds so damn nice and it's still in good condition. SHARON, you better make sure of that.
Sunday; NBC day
Finally the day we've been practising so hard; so relentlessly for 5 months had finally come.Woke up damn early, like 2.36am? then tried to sleep but only slept for another 45 mins.
Had to wear stockings... which made me kinda exasperated. The last time I wore a stocking, I made a hole in it in less than 10 mins. So i took EXTREME care. reached sch around 5.45 am before I realised that I needed to pin up my hair.... I was like huh............ damn toot.
Didn;t manage to warm up much before Mrs Chua came in to work on the pieces again before leaving.
Started moving at around 7.15 and left school around 7.30 for Victoria Concert Hall. Went to tuning room and waited for 20 mins before tuning. Then the time has finally come... entered the hall and stage. Started to get REAL nervous.
Mrs Chua came on stage and then... we played. First piece-March-Bou-Shu.and ohya I found out in a NEGATIVE way that my instrument went on strike again and I can't play the high G except sometimes. so no choice skipped the notes. Then Warabe-Uta Fantasy. The soloists were really GREAT especially JiaHui's and Odelia's. Joyann's too. But some parts were really messy. Went off stage. and then the realisation hit me. All of the 5 month's worth of intensive training and sweat was just over in like less than 10 mins.
Kept instruments before returning to hall to listen to other bands. I think Fairfield's Dancing in the Wind was really nice. And also I had this dreaded feeling and hollow feeling in my heart that we didn;t make it for Gold.
After all the bands performed, the final moment that will decide whether our 5 months of training is going down the train or not....
Dragged for a long time. QianLin was like wanting to go to the toilet very urgently but was afraid that if she go, they'll announce the results. I think she waited for more than 15 mins. Poor QianLin.
Announcer: Anglican High School .... a perfect score of... 85...
the rest was drowned by applause and screams from us.
GOLD WITH DISTINCTION!!
We didn't expect it at all... most of us was kinda expecting a silver and thought it was a miracle if we get gold.
But WE DID IT, AHBAND!
Emerged as champion for 2nd division.
Alot of people cried even the sec4s. I almost cried. My first competition with AHBand and we achieved Gold with Distinction.. I grinned like an idiot throughout the whole day.
Went back and after we dismissed, called JJ immediately. JJ was really happy and shocked. Can hear from her voice. hannah was screaming. and when my dad picked me up, i was screaming in his car and talked super fast that my dad gave me the frustrated look to shut me up. Went home and started screaming and my maid was like shh! korkor upstairs having tuition. I didn;t really care.
HAPPY!!
TODAY
was still delirious from yesterday. haha. Kept snatching Hannah's present from GuoYing: stuffed rabbit. DAMN CUTE. haha
