6 April 2009.
One year ago, at this time, I was crying myself to sleep, with a heavy heart and indescribable feelings. i kept asking myself, WHY. Months of practising so hard and putting in so much effort, all we got is "Anglican High School, Silver." An outsider will have no idea how just this one sentence could shatter 53 ppl hearts, and probably several more. talk about disappointment.

Yes, it is true we came out stronger as a band, the bond was like superglue, that we emerged as victors at the end for the friendships we forged. But really, the feeling of getting that particular silver is horrendous. I remember the "jiayou", "good luck" smses, the mahjong paper that MingLi stuck on the walls to remind us the techniques and BREATHE and avoid fried food etc, the first and last breakfast HuiMin bought for me as the SL, the encouraging pep talks alumni + tchers + band leaders gave us, the prayers said, and the banners that hung up behind the stand, stating "FOCUS" & "GOLD" (with honours). 53 AHBand members stepped out of the bandroom, quite confidently, nervously yet excited and determined to get the Gold award back. Yet they returned with their heads down, tears silently fell. Deep down in our hearts, we all knew we won. But to the rest of the world? zilch. The school? -rolls eyes- Another 2 years of unappreciation from the school and the unfair treatment. Another 2 years of ppl sneering behind our backs. No matter what, even though 7 strangers judged us on what we played for that 7 and half minutes instead of the true spirit of the band and the kind of music we're playing, we are still a silver band.

Band is never a one man show. It's always all about teamwork and harmony. I don't want another silver. Just a group of people working hard for that gold or even gold with honours is not enough. The entire band needs to work together for it. One silver is enough for me. I don't want that feeling again. I want the feeling of euphoria and real victory on 130708, NBC'08 where we achieved 85.00, Gold with Distinction. That was really a (Y) memory for me.

060409. The day when I grew more mature and tasted one of the most bitter things in my entire life. Before me now is a bleak path yet I have confidence that AHBand can light this path together as a band and rewrite history as the band that never quits and in which the efforts have finally been paid off.

An empty shell now, can be filled again
